Hotel De La Matelote, Boulogne-sur-Mer

The hotel is located in a quiet area of Boulogne and offers a great view across the road towards the aquarium opposite. The staff at the reception desk did not show any hospitality, but thankfully, the restaurant staff were more customer-focused. The rooms provide decent tea making facilities and good views, with good overall facilities. However, dining options were limited, especially for halal products.

The hotel offers rooms with good views and well-equipped bathrooms. The disabled facilities are commendable, but some rooms have views into a shaft. The service lacked hospitality at the reception but the room service was good. The location provides a view of the aquarium across the road and is atop a Michelin-starred restaurant. The dining experience boasts fresh vegetables. The facilities are modern and high-quality.

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! The location is superb, just across the road from the seafront and very close to the beach. The rooms were well-equipped, with a good-sized, well-kitted bathroom, but unfortunately with a view into a shaft. The service, particularly at the reception desk, lacked hospitality, but room service was efficient. The dining experience was exceptional with extraordinary food. The facilities were top-notch, serving as the cherry on top of a great stay.
